Glaze for Donuts

1/4 c. cold water
1 pkg. Knox gelatin (or about 1 T.)
1/2 c. hot water
1 tsp. butter
1 1/2 pounds powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt (opt.)

Dissolve gelatin in cold water. Add hot water and butter; stir until dissolved. Blend in powdered sugar, vanilla and salt. Place wire rack on top of cookie sheet to catch drips. Dip donuts in glaze; allow excess to drip off into bowl before placing on wire rack to dry. This is a wonderful donut glaze! The gelatin helps it to firm up enough that it doesn’t run off the donut, and it doesn’t dry sticky.
